Does Atheism and Agnosticism Indicate Intelligence or Superiority?

A recent post on Twitter which stated along the lines that Atheism and Humanism was not a sign of intelligence or a superiority sort of got me thinking about some peoples attitude towards those people like myself and what we think of ourselves.

My personal view it takes some intelligence to actually question the existence of god rather than blindly follow god which takes no real intelligence to do. It also takes some intelligence to question established churches actions and motives but takes no real intelligence to blindly follow the teaching of these established churches.

Basically what I am saying it take an intelligence to ask questions!

As for being superior if being superior is asking questions about god and established churches then so be it but it is a poor defence against those who dare question existence of god and established churches.

Accusing someone of being superior because they ask questions shows a real lack of conviction on the accusers part.

One thing a large majority of Atheists, Agnostics and Humanist have is intelligence and an ability to actually think for themselves. Add to this the large majority of such people do not feel any more superior to believers in god just different.

Myself I do not feel superior just confident in my view of the universe and very happy to allow people to follow their own views of the universe but I do reserve the right to criticise and question those things I feel are wrong including religion and the established churches!

Sheer Arrogance of the Major Regions!

What has really got me going today after the BBC program this morning was the sheer arrogance of some Christians and Muslims world wide who believe that they are the only real religions of the world which clearly both are not1

If these remarks upsets these Christians and Muslims out there I am beyond caring any more because living in household which is nether, we are fed up of your arrogance and marginalising of people like myself who do not follow your so called major religions!

As an Agnostic Atheist I am fed up of those Christians and Muslims who belittle other peoples beliefs or simply ignore them as irrelevant all this contrary to their own religions tenants especially the Christians who seam to have forgot their own commandment Love Thy Neighbour!

I have ask them by what right do they do this?

My answer is they have no right to do this in the first place and they should take an example from other religions and non-believers across the world who show more tolerance to each other than large majority of Christians and Muslims ever have done so!

Personally it is high time those of us who are not Christian or Muslim told them to grow up and show other religions and non-believers basic respect all humans deserve!

Even the BBC Shows Discrimination Against Atheists!

What is so annoying even in United Kingdom is a lack of a voice for those of us who are Atheist, Non-Christian or Non-Muslim on the BBC even on Sundays.

The BBC is having discussion program this morning about Muslims here in United Kingdom and only people they have in the discussion are Christians and Muslims and no one else!

My personal views even here it is high time Atheist, Agnostics and others within the United Kingdom had their say!

Also add to this the sheer arrogance of Christians here who claim the United Kingdom is still a Christian Country regardless of the fact we here now are clearly a multi-cultural and multi-religious here now. It is high time both Christians and Muslims were put in their place as yet another religion here in the United Kingdom not the be end of all religions here!

Christians: Why are they so Scared of Atheists?

I recently wrote a journal entry here commenting the fact that some Christians simply do not understand or want to understand why Atheist and Agnostics to a point of being blatantly offensive and aggressive towards such people.

I was not surprised to get a comment from a Christian who simply put in a very condescending way proving exactly what I was describing in the previous journal entry on Atheists. In so much that some Christians are so closed minded and afraid of Atheists and Agnostics all they can do is pass ill thought out remarks which make themselves look like fools and just continue to enforce the attitude of the more extreme Atheist and Agnostics that all Christians are idiots!

As I said the large majority of Atheists and Agnostics show far more respect for other people’s faith or lack of faith which is more than a large minority of Christians and Muslims who contrary to their own moral codes show very little respect for other faiths or lack of faith.

One has to ask these Christians do they not follow their own ten commandments, in this case ‘ Love Thy Neighbour’, or only conveniently follow them when it suits them and their own faith?

Atheists: Are they Scary?

As people have gathered I am a confirmed Atheist Agnostic because of my personal views of the various established religions especially both Protestant and Roman Catholic Christian Churches. I will point out I am very happy and settled being an Atheist Agnostic as it reflects my moral values and outlook about life.

But for some reason a large majority of both devout Christians and Muslims I have met have had a real problem with the fact that I have chosen this course of my life to a point they have to attempt to convert me to believe in god or dam right disrespectful with very heavily veiled comments that I am an idiot that I do not believe god.

They singularity fail to understand that I made the conscious decision to be Atheist Agnostic as I have the right of self determination and follow my own cause of life. They have the right to question it but not the right to belittle my decision as it shows a lack of respect of other people’s beliefs or non-belief!

But in the end I have come to the conclusion that most Christians and Muslims seem to be afraid of Atheist and Agnostics in general for some unknown reason or it is plain jealously in so much such people can live without the crutch of belief and can think freely without the constraints of an doctrine?

Either way these people should show respect the fact I chose not to believe in God as I have respect for those who actually believe in god as it is their own choice as is mine.

Atheists: The God Haters!

Over the last few day I have been following a tag called #atheistrollcall which started because Twitter will not trend anything which is linked to Atheism and the such. In itself is very wrong and owners of Twitter should really rethink their policy as it is discriminatory in nature.

But what has come out from this tag on Twitter a lot of misconceptions and extreme views of Atheists so of which do not do both Atheist and Non-Atheist any justice or shows them in the best light.

The biggest misconception being the fact that Atheists are god hating and intolerant of anyone who believes in God be it Christian, Jewish or Muslim. I will admit there are some Atheists who do hate anyone who believes in God for various reasons but the large majority of Atheists do not actually dislike and very tolerant of those who choose to believe in God.

I tend to think people forget that Atheism like Religion is a personal choice of a philosophy and view of the world. Something we all have the right to choose regardless of the pressures brought upon us both by Religions, fellow Atheists and others.

I believe in my heart everyone has to make their own choice be it believing in God or not as in the end we have to live with our choice and be prepared to stand by it..

The second major misconception made about Atheists is the fact they hate Christians, Jews and Muslims as people which is simply not true. The truth it most Atheists do hate the established churches created by the Christian, Jewish and Muslim religions themselves who have always put their own political ambitions and wealth before their actual believes and members of their members.

This has among Atheists breed a great resentment of Established Churches who have openly abused their power and position over last millennia both within Europe and beyond. These same Churches openly attack anyone, including Atheists, even now in this so called modern enlightened world to a point of killing non-believers!

All these Churches preach a sort of tolerance as long as you believe in them not the religion in question actually says in it’s scriptures which both for Christianity and Muslim which actually does say that their believers are meant to be tolerant of everyone. This being biggest hypocrisy of the established Churches!

In conclusion what I am saying not all Atheists are God haters the large majority show much more tolerance and understanding than a large minority of both Christians and Muslins out there!

A final point is I’m not a true Atheist but what is called Agnostic Atheists as my views sort of fit between the two.
