Here in the United Kingdom we have the sweet irony of Microsoft advertising Internet Explorer 9 on our Independent Television services here currently the only company to do so here. It all made more ironic that it is always shipped with their Windows 7 operating system. Though here in Europe they do have to put on an alternative browser which is usually Google Chrome.

These adverts claim that Microsoft Internet Explorer 9 gives the user a smooth, fast and wonderful experience of the internet which is far from the truth when it is actually used. It has a really bad reputation among the web professionals and growing number of users simply because it sort of works but not for all web sites so it gives a far from smooth, fast or wonderful experience but a very frustrating experience of the internet.

This has not gone unnoticed by heavy users of the internet who have gravitated to more reliable and faster browsers which include Google Chrome and they have spread the word to those who still use Microsoft Internet Explorer 9 which has shown in it’s share of the browser use has fallen below that of Google Chrome and it is still falling.

My personal view is that Microsoft has lost battle of the internet browsers and even if they create a wonderful browser in Windows 8 I really do not see people flocking back as they have already done irreversible damage by producing sub-standard internet browsers since Internet Explorer 6 which were all slow and failed to follow the standards set for the internet.

Basically Microsoft’s lack real development of their Internet Explorer shows a real arrogance on their part believing that they would always have the browser share and a contempt for their users by producing sub-standard software.

In conclusion these adverts here show a real desperation on Microsoft’s part as they are slowly losing their total dominance here in United Kingdom and Europe!
