Steampunk: Dreams of a Golden Age!

Myself I am not surprised that Steampunk has taken off recently especially in the United States and starting to take off here in the United Kingdom as I see it as a natural reaction to the modern world around us which has become very grey, sterile and bland.

I see it as a natural reaction to a modern world which is becoming more grey and sterile especially for those people who need to live in a world which is far more colourful and forward looking than the world they see around them. They are looking backwards to a world which was far more alive in so much the Victorians we far more innovative, forward looking and not afraid to do new and grandiose things something which simply does not happen any more.

Some people will see this as escapist and looking at Victorian World with rose tinted glasses which is true but there is this underlying thing missed by those people it shows a growing disillusionment with a modern world around them.

But as always these people will regard such groups like Steampunk as another group of dreamers who need dismissing and they will sadly continue their grey lives obvious to the world is falling into nothingness around them.

Just sometimes it is good to be a dreamer and different!
