Be Yourself First!

Posted: 2 June, 2015 in Comment, Life

Just being yourself in the modern world is no mean feat with the constant media barrage of images of how we should act, think even look all of which are far too idealised and impossible to be. It almost as the media and the people who run it are preaching to us just how we should look, think and even act.

It has always been like this though in recent decades as communication has become global and the people running the media become more obsessed with power and wealth things have become worse as they try to stamp their view of the world on everyone around them. Regardless of this view is shallow, bigoted, hateful or even detrimental to society and people as a whole.

But it is time for us all to remember that all these messages we are constantly bombarded with everyday via media are exactly what they are someone else’s idea of the world and we do not have to take it on as we simply still have the right to be ourselves.

As in the end being ourselves rather being someone society and the media expect to be is easier and more comfortable to live with in the end. Plus in the end we are truer to ourselves and far more healthier mentally.

Though there is a warning about being yourself there will take courage to do as there will be those around you who will criticise and judge you because they are both too afraid or jealous because you have the balls to be yourself!
