…the pool of blood slowly spread from around the fallen body of the Federal Marshall.

Standing over him was a suited gentleman holding a smoking gun…

Portraits of a Multiverse Part XXXV

Of a Multiverse:

…Jon woke up to the usual constant background humming of the station which he always found reassuring for some reason.

He stretched and turned on the lights to reveal a standard utilitarian cabin of the Station. He got out of bed, rubbing his eyes he walked over to the only window of the cabin to admire the wonderful view of Planet Earth which never ceased to amaze him how many times he saw it.

But this morning the view was blocked by a massive Mars Corp Ore Carrier which was as utilitarian as it was ugly.

It reminded Jon why he was on the Station in the first place which was he was on the way to Mars to clean up yet another mess created by some Earth Gov idiot.

Jon was not looking forward to it as he has a bad feeling about the whole thing…
